Department of Motor Vehicles
This Facility serves as Region 9 California Department of Motor Vehicles office. This facility opened its doors in 2006, and encompasses 4,150 sq/ft of office space and 50,000 sq/ft of parking space and sits on 2 acres of land located within the Commercial Park. This partnership between the Tribe and State is a first of its kind and was accomplished through collaboration and cooperation of Bishop Paiute Tribe and the State of California.
The Bishop Paiute Tribe recognized the need for creation of economic development opportunity on the Bishop Reservation. The Tribe needed to diversify its resource of land, and set aside 51 acres of land in which 26 acres are designated as wetlands and the remaining 25 acres for Commercial usage. The Commercial Park currently houses the USFS/BLM Facility, DMV Facility, RV/boat Storage, Mini Storage and BPDC Office Complex.
